Phyllis Wharton-James Named Director of Behavioral Health at High Point Medical Center
High Point Medical Center has named Phyllis Wharton-James, BS, MA as Director of Behavioral Health. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating High Point Medical Center’s behavioral health staff and their daily operations.
Most recently, Wharton-James served at Novant Health Behavioral Outpatient Center where she helped develop their psychiatric telemedicine program in North Carolina. Her prior experience includes serving as a behavioral health consultant in Salisbury, NC and in several leadership positions with the Lighthouse Care Center in Conway, SC.
With nearly 20 years of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health experience, Wharton-James brings a wealth of experience to High Point Medical Center’s behavioral health team. She holds a master of science in agency counseling from NC A&T University and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Winston-Salem State University.
