High Point Medical Center Enacts Emergency Water Procedures


High Point Medical Center has enacted emergency precautionary procedures in response to the city’s announcement of the positive results for E.coli/Fecal coliform bacteria found in the City’s water supply on August 18, 2016. 

High Point Medical Center has an emergency water supply and access to outside resources to provide water for patient care, sanitation, handwashing and other critical needs. The health and safety for patients, visitors and staff remains the top priority at the hospital. 

E.coli/Fecal coliform bacteria can make individuals ill, and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems. The main symptoms of an E. coli infection are bloody diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.  These symptoms generally begin three to four days after contact with E. coli.  

E. coli infection depending on the severity typically resolves without any treatment.  However, if you have any symptoms, please contact your family physician or visit a local urgent care office or emergency room.
